Put the story in a few sentences
Describe what you noticed, where you noticed it, and when it started. Ordinary language is fine. A description such as 'small insects around the sink every evening' is more useful than a guess about a species. If you can take a clear photo without disturbing the area, keep it ready to share.
- List the affected rooms or outdoor areas.
- Note whether activity is occasional, repeated, or spreading.
- Mention recent leaks, deliveries, repairs, or travel when relevant.
- Write down any products already used and roughly when they were applied.
Confirm the access and preparation
Tell AML about gates, locked rooms, parking, and any areas that are difficult to reach. Ask which spaces need access and whether someone needs to be present. If you rent or manage the property for someone else, explain who can authorize and coordinate the work.
Wait for the service-specific checklist before emptying storage, moving heavy furniture, or doing a major cleanout. A bed bug concern, a rodent concern, and a general pest visit may require different arrangements.
Make a plan for your household
Before treatment, identify any children, pets, aquariums, or particular concerns that AML needs to know about. Ask what needs to be removed or protected and whether people or animals must stay away from any areas. The right instructions depend on the products and work proposed; a general online checklist cannot set a universal return time.
Keep the details you will need afterward
Confirm how to contact AML if you see new activity. Ask what cleaning is appropriate, which changes would be useful to report, and whether follow-up is part of the proposal. Where a pesticide is used, request its name, EPA registration number, and relevant label information for your records.
If an instruction is unclear or a preparation task is difficult for you, say so before the appointment. It is easier to agree on a workable arrangement while planning the visit.
Common questions
Should I empty every cabinet before pest control?
Only if your service instructions call for it. Ask AML which areas need preparation so you can focus on the work that is actually necessary.
